A Trusted Site

Many sites won't display properly when you set the Internet Security Level for your web browser to custom, medium or high. If you are concerned about security on the web yet are confident that particular sites can be trusted, such as the csma site, then you have another option that doesn't involve lowering your internet security settings for the all web pages you browse.

Go ahead and set the security level for the "Internet" zone to what you need. Set the security level for the "Trusted Sites" zone to low . Then when a site that you know is trustworthy just won't work, add it to the "Trusted Sites" zone. It will work fine then. Here's how to do it:


How to set a trusted site

Firstly, we need to see what type of browser you are using to view the site.

The version (e.g. version 5 or 6) can usually be seen by selecting: Help > About


Internet Explorer 6+ (Windows)

Select the Tools menu and choose Internet Options
  1. Select the Security tab
  2. Select the Trusted sites icon tab
  3. Click the "sites button"
  4. Unclick "require server verification" tick box
  5. In the box titled "add this web server to the zone" type www.csma.uk.com
  6. Click the Add button, then Click the OK button.

You will now see the "trusted site" symbol (green circle with a tick) in the bottom right band corner of your web browser


Internet Explorer 5+ (Windows)

  1. Select the Tools menu and choose Internet Options
  2. Select the Security tab
  3. Select the Trusted sites icon tab
